Iranian VP: Several Contracts Signed with Russia to Repair Planes

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Rouhollah Dehqani Firouzabadi announced that the country’s knowledge-based companies have signed several contracts with Russia to overhaul and maintain aircraft.

Dehqani Firouzabadi told reporters that the Russian companies have signed big and lucrative contracts with Iran for airplane repair and maintenance.

“We are a producer of airplane parts. The grounded airplanes at Mehrabad (airport) are due to be handed over to knowledge-based companies for the supply of parts or engines,” he underlined.

In a relevant development in July, Ali Akbar Safaei, the CEO of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) had also announced the conclusion of a contract with Russia to build six ships in the Caspian Sea.

Representatives from the three countries of Iran, India and Russia attended the Tehran meeting to discuss the International North-South Corridor. Iranian Road Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash represented Iran in the meeting, in which they discussed facilitating maritime transport in the Caspian Sea as part of the corridor.

According to a report by the Iranian Road and urban Development Ministry, Safaei made the remarks about building six ship for Russian by the Iranian ship-making companies on the sidelines of the third tripartite meeting between Iran, India and Russia in Tehran on July 4.

Saying that with the commitment provided by the private sectors of Iran, India and Russia, transit from the sea route will be more prosperous he added, “Regarding Russian investment in the Northern ports of the country, we have reached significant agreements and we are preparing a contract.”

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development went on to say that on the construction of ships in the Caspian Sea, both in Russia and in Iran, the two countries reached an agreement for four ships in Iran and two ships in Russia, and it was decided that Russia gives significant amount of finance to Iranian companies and other companies that intend to build ships in Russia.”
