Deputy Minister: Iran, Other Caspian Sea Littoral States Eye Increased Transit up to 50ml tons
“Plans were made in the Caspian Economic Forum to increase the volume of goods transit up to 50 million tons by 2030,” Afandizadeh said, addressing the second Caspian Economic Forum in Moscow.
“This amount of transit is carried out through road, rail, sea and air transportation, and it will be easy to achieve this goal by removing border bottlenecks and creating green corridors to decrease the transit time of goods,” he added.
Noting that the focus in the Caspian Economic Forum was on the operationalization of bilateral and multilateral agreements, Afandizadeh said, “In this meeting, efforts were made to make Iran the transit hub of the region by reducing tariffs, creating a green corridor, removing internal and external obstacles and attracting investment.”
He underlined that the Caspian Sea Economic Forum is a highly important conference that can lead to the development of transit between the littoral states of the Sea.
The second Caspian Economic Forum was held in Moscow on October 5th and 6th in the presence of Iran’s First Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber and the prime ministers of the four littoral states of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
