Iran-Made Water Repellent, Dust Proof Nano-Coatings on Par with European Samples

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based company has produced water-repellent and dust-proof nano-coatings with the same quality as the samples produced by European rivals.

Hamid Reza Kolyaee, the sales manager of Pars Sofeh Company, said the European products are packaged in the United Arab Emirates and imported to Iran.

We made efforts to produce the coatings on par with the foreign-made sample. Its formulation and materials are the same. However, in terms of price, the Iranian-made product is 50 percent lower than the foreign-made product, Kolyaee explained.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the 13th International Nanotechnology (IRANANO 2022) Festival and Exhibition, saying that the company produces nano-coatings, paints, and solutions that are used in the building industry.

Nano coatings are very interesting for various applications because of their superior properties that are not usually found in conventional coatings. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in available coatings claiming to contain nanoparticles.

For instance, the facade of a building with brick or stone will be polluted with black spots after rainfall because of dust and dirt in the environment.

The nano-coating does not let water be absorbed into the materials. It has a durability of ten to fifteen years with a written guarantee.

Also, nano-paints are Anti UV so that they are not affected by sunlight and wind. They cause up to 15 percent energy saving in building as well.

The expansion of nanotechnology export programs in recent years and the establishment of bases for exporting nanotechnology products to China, India, Indonesia, Syria, Turkey, and Iraq have provided the opportunity for the entry of Iranian nanotechnology goods, equipment, and services into global markets.

More than 100 nanotechnology projects to invest in and commercialize were offered to investors at the IRANANO Exhibition, which was held in Tehran from October 1 to 4.

The projects were related to water and environment, health, laboratory equipment, agriculture and packaging, electronics, advanced materials, paint and coating, and the construction industry.

Over 1,200 homegrown products from nearly 280 knowledge-based companies were also displayed in the exhibition.
