During a meeting with Tajik Deputy Communications Minister Ilham Joun Atif on the sidelines of a meeting of ministers of communications of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Zare’pour described construction of satellites and the use of space data as areas of joint cooperation between the two countries.

He referred to the common language of the two countries as the potential of cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, and said, “Iranian platforms can be used in a joint cooperation in Tajikistan.”

He pointed to the construction of satellites and the use of space data as another field of cooperation between the two countries, and said, “Considering the fact that Iran enjoys experiences in designing and building satellites and receiving high-quality images, it can cooperate with Tajikistan in this field too.”

Atif, for his part, pointed out the importance of network security in the field of ICT, and asked the Iranian communication minister to cooperate with Tajikistan in this area.

Earlier this year, Head of Tajikistan Academy of Sciences Farhad Rahim had announced his country’s preparedness to cooperate with Iran in different astronomy research programs.

Rahim made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Rouhollah Dehqani Firouzabadi in Tehran.

During the meeting, Rahim noted that the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan is active in various scientific fields as well as philosophy and law, which can be the basis of cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to the research infrastructure in his country, Rahim said, “We have three large observatories and we can carry out joint (astronomy) research. We have also created infrastructure for seismological studies.”

Dehqani Firouzabadi, for his part, said a joint agreement should be signed in this area so that the common fields of mutual cooperation can be precisely determined.
