Removing Taste, Odor from Drinking Water with Help of Nanotechnology
There is a limit to each type of pollution, and the volume of contamination in water must not exceed those limits. The home purification system aims to remove that contamination, a report by Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC) said.
Various water treatment methods such as sedimentation, carbon block filtration, reverse osmosis filtration and ion exchange are used in home purification devices to improve water quality. These devices consist of different parts, including the base of the water purifier, filter housing, water purifier switch, water purifier tank, pressure gauge, water flow limiter, filter clip and water purifier hose.
In the process of water purification, the filter chamber also gets into contact with pollution, and as a result, the use of materials with antibacterial properties in the construction of the chamber body can help improve the quality of purified water.
In order to make a filter body with antibacterial properties, polymer materials containing nanoparticles can be used, something that has been done by Gowarab Sazan Dasht Sabz Company in Iran in production of its water treatment filters.
The products made in this Iranian company can create antibacterial properties without the need for ultraviolet rays and help remove the color, odor and bad taste from water. The body of this company's water purification filter includes masterbatch with nanoparticles that make it antimicrobial.
The ring gasket in the filter chamber is also made of nano materials that have antibacterial properties. These gaskets, which are made of resistant and flexible polymer, provide complete sealing without the need for Teflon tape.
According to INIC report, Gowarab Sazan Dasht Sabz Company was founded with the aim of designing, manufacturing and supplying different types of carbon, polymer and mineral filters for use in domestic and semi-industrial water purification devices in accordance with international quality and standards in 2013 over a land of 15,000 square meters. Currently, its annual production capacity is more than seven million types of water purification filters.
