Iranian Deputy Industry Minister: Over 120 Knowledge-Based Firms Stationed at Industrial Towns
“Last year, over 120 knowledge-based companies were stationed in industrial towns and areas. More than 300 other companies which were in industrial towns received necessary advices to become knowledge-based provided that they could manage to improve their technology,” said Rasoulian, who is also the head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO).
He also referred to technology exchanges with other countries, and said, “We have started exchanging technology with the Czech Republic. We have also had very good memoranda of understanding with Germany and reached good agreements with Turkey and China, all of which will promote technology in small and medium enterprises.”
“We support the presence and participation of small and medium enterprises (SME) in international exhibitions and we will create pavilions in prestigious exhibitions to strengthen the presence of Iranian companies,” Rasoulian underlined.
In line with the senior Iranian officials' efforts to support the growth and development of knowledge-based companies, the total number of such companies in the country has reached 8,368 indicating 90 percent increase.
According to a report by Iran's Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, “As many as 8,368 knowledge-based companies have been founded in the country so far, out of which 5,445 are manufacturing knowledge-based companies and 2,923 are newly-established knowledge-based firms (start-ups).”
Knowledge-based companies with their activities in various fields are classified into two groups of production (manufacturing) and newly-founded or start-up knowledge-based companies.
