Iranian Researchers Use IAU facilities to Produce Machinery Tools, Industrial Parts
“Construction of several prototypes and practical instances of equipment such as measuring device of Lubrication flow by MQL method (Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL)), electric bicycle with new body design, intelligent methadone dispenser in prison and axial polishing device are among the achievements of members of this research group,” Hamzeh Shahrajbian, the director of the research "Machine tools and new production technologies" at the Islamic Azad University, Najafabad branch, said in an interview with ANA news agency correspondent.
This methadone distribution device was designed and built through the collective efforts of the students of Najafabad Azad university to manage the distribution of methadone in the country.
"He added the thermal vacuum machine, electromagnetic polishing machine, machine cooling system that uses electro thermal cooling method, drilling machine produced by ECM method and several other equipment are already in operation,” he said.
The researcher further said that their group have written several ISI-approved articles and gained two US-patents as their other achievements of their research group which is based at Najafabad Azad university.
Shahrajbian also said that the research group has been working in the "New Technologies Research Center" of Najafabad university since 2016, adding, "The purpose of setting up the research group was to conduct research and projects related to the manufacture and production of parts and machinery."
He went on to say that his research team is formed of five faculty members of the manufacturing and production engineering department of the Najafabad university as permanent members and ten students of that field are also working with them as temporary members. He added that they have an office in an area of 50 square meters at the university.
“Student projects in the research group of machine tools and new production technologies are carried out using manufacturing and production facilities such as turning, milling, welding and CNC workshops at the university,” The researcher also said.
“The main problem is providing funds for the projects. Many projects have been completed by professors and students at their own expense, and many practical projects have remained unfinished due to the lack of funding and their high costs,” he added.
“Despite the problems and the decrease in incentives and a declined motive among the members of the group, research activities have continued in one way or another in the research group and its existence depends on the provision of research funds. Almost all the workshops and laboratories of the research center for new manufacturing and production technologies, including turning, milling, welding and CNC workshops are at the disposal of this research group [at Najafabad university],” he went on to say.
