Iran-Made Polymer Nanocomposite for Aerospace Industry Unveiled
“Nowadays, the use of nanocomposite structure is highly paid attention due to its unique properties and diverse applications in various industries,” said the project manager Mohammad-Javad Qasemi-Parizi.
The aerospace industry is among these applications, he said, adding that aerospace structures should basically have a higher strength-to-mass ratio.
“Such components must be able to withstand the incoming forces while being light. Due to the acceleration and maneuvers of flying devices, the use of nanocomposite materials instead of metal alloys is prioritized,” he added.
In this line, a method was developed using nanotechnology that, in addition to the simplicity of implementation, led to an increase in the mechanical properties and strength of the nanocomposite, he explained.
“The plan was first implemented on small scales. Considering the need of the industry to use composites, this idea can be used to improve other properties as well.”
He went on to say that raw materials for fiber coating are available and cost effective, adding, “Organic materials are used in this product and the absence of chemical methods is one of the advantages of the project.”
The competitive advantages of the product include short implementation time, low-cost raw materials, and high efficiency in order to increase the mechanical properties of composites without using chemical methods.
