The virtual conference aims to present the latest research achievements in the field of biotechnology sciences. The themes of this year's conference will include medical biotechnology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, microbial biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, viral biotechnology and mining and agricultural biotechnology.

Among the advantages of holding the biotechnology conference is the possibility of presenting articles in the form of short speech or poster virtually, receiving a certificate approved by the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the international universities and benefiting from the scientific information presented by the prominent Iranian and foreign professors in the field of biotechnology.

Iran has taken wide strides in development of biotechnological sciences.

In relevant remarks in January, a senior Iranian official underlined astonishing progress of the country’s knowledge-based companies, saying that they have succeeded in exporting their biotechnological products to 17 world states.

“700 knowledge-based companies are active in the biotechnological field and several of them have been able to export their products to 17 foreign states,” said Mostafa Qaneyee, the secretary of the Biotechnology Development Headquarters affiliated to Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.

He added that at present, Iran's name atops the list of the World Health Organization (WHO) of vaccine producing countries with the capability of developing six technologies for the production of coronavirus vaccine.

Qaneyee also referred to the efforts made by the Iranian scientists to develop the Arian chicken crossbreed, and said, “At present, Arian chicken genes are imported; therefore, we are trying to produce these chickens in the country with the domestic genes.”

“The mostly-exported products in the biological field are the pharmaceutical products and in general, 60 million dollars worth of biological products have been exported,” he noted.
