Iranian Company Produces Nano Breathable Masks for Workplaces
“The industrial nanofilter produced in this company can be used in different industries such as steel industry and the food industry,” Seyed Amirhossein Taghavi, managing director of the Iranian technological company operating in the field of nanotechnology said, according to the National Nano Headquarters of Iran.
Taghavi said their produced industrial nano filters are used in two places, one is air inlet entry part for example at power plant turbines or the second in places in which there are industrial dust collectors which prevent the contaminants and dust particles to spread in the environment.
Stating that those nano filters are helpful for both the health of workers as well as the health of the environment, he pointed out that non-nano industrial filters are usually not able to remove very small particles, so dusts that measure smaller than 2.5 microns that are harmful and dangerous to health and the environment, easily pass through these normal filters, but in nano filters, due to the use of nanofilers, particles smaller than 2.5 microns are also filtered.
He went on to note that because of nanofibers and surface filtration, the shelf life of their nano filters has increased, therefore they will be used for longer time, which ,in turn, can reduce the overall expenses at the industrial units.
The managing director of the company pointed to one of the other company's activities, which is providing electrospinning services of nanofibers on filter paper, saying, “So far, various companies have approached us for electrospinning services. The companies, due to low production volume or other reasons, do not use electrospinning machines or have not purchased those machines yet, have also called us to do the work for them.”
He added that his company presented the company's capabilities in the field of electrospinning nanofibers on filter paper to the customers at this year's Nano Technology Exhibition in Tehran.
“We had taken action to produce nano masks even before the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and in order to help the health of workforce in contaminated places in the industry sector, we would produce nano masks for them under the pandemic. After the spread of Coronavirus began, our face masks were available in the market for public use, but currently our main approach is to supply nano masks for use in industry. These are highly breathable masks, a quality that is very important for workforce in the contaminated workplaces,” Taghavi concluded.
