“This product is an antiseptic in the field of veterinary medicine, which is used to treat mastitis in cattle,“ said Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Khatat, the manager of the Iranian start-up company on the sidelines of the 13th Nano Exhibition in Tehran after saying that the name of their sanitizer is "Nanoguard".

He considered mastitis as a common disease among livestock, the spread of which will cause damage to the husbandry industry, adding, “When an animal is infected with this disease, its milk is thrown away for a week. Meanwhile, then Antibiotics are prescribed for infected animals for a month, which imposes a lot of costs on the farmer.”

According to the researcher, the products available in the market for disinfecting animal breast infections are based on iodine and ammonium salts, which are two raw materials that are imported from abroad, adding that supplying those two components imposes a high cost on the farmer due to high price of foreign currencies against the Iranian rial under the foreign sanctions.

Mousavi Khatat went on to note that Nanoguard is based on nano and its cost to buy them from the market is almost one third of the foreign rivals. He also said that the use of their product does not cause poisioning in the animal.

According to him, Nanoguard has received a certificate from the national Nano Headquarters and the approval of the national Veterinary Organization.

The researcher further said that their product is twice more effective in terms of being antibacterial than other similar products available in the market because nanoparticles are used in it.

Mastitis is an inflammation of breast tissue that sometimes involves an infection. The inflammation results in breast pain, swelling, warmth and redness.
