Iran-Made Detector System Alerts Deaf of Gas Leak, Earthquake
The Iranian knowledge-based 'Houshmaan Pishro Omid' company based in the Center for the Development of Technological Units of the Islamic Azad University's Kermanshah branch has recently succeeded to win the knowledge-based title (grade three) for the development of a special gas and earthquake detector system for residential houses with stable performance in different environmental conditions and the capability to connect with cellphones and alert the deaf people.
The company won the knowledge-based title (grade three) and is now developing its products in the field of electronics and computers after being evaluated by Iran's Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology and receiving necessary confirmation of the high level of technology and research and development (R&D) conditions.
"Among the products of the company, I am interested in introducing gas and earthquake detector system for residential houses with stable performance in different environmental conditions and the capability to connect with cellphones and alarm the deaf people," Hamed Abbasi, the grade seven assistant professor and full-time faculty member of the electricity department of Islamic Azad University's Kermanshah branch and the managing director of the company, told ANA on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event.
He added that a special Android software has been designed for the device with the capability of establishing mutual communication with the user.
"This device is designed specially for the deaf people and it sends message, image and alarm to the cellphone through special software at the time of an earthquake or a gas leak; and it can remain active in any environmental and weather conditions, meaning that the special sensors installed in the device work in any conditions," Abbasi stressed.
He added that the product has been evaluated by Iran's Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology and won the knowledge-based title (grade three) after receiving necessary confirmations of the high level of technology and research and development (R&D) conditions.
Lack of ability to hear sounds in deaf people is an obstacle to optimal communication in a predominantly hearing world. Emergency situations harbor sufficient challenge for the hearing person and pose even greater barriers for the deaf and hard of hearing. During disasters and emergency situations, deaf people have great difficulty in obtaining and sharing information, increasing their dependence on others.
Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 01, 2022 to exhibit new achievements, equipments and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of establishment of the Islamic Azad University.
