Knowledge-Based Company in Iran Makes Products for Angioplasty
“We, in cooperation with a number of graduates of the University of Science and Technology, were able to gain self-sufficiency in producing medical equipment, specially the angiography products, and we were introduced as the first manufacturer of coronary angioplasty inflators in Iran by conducting research and production,” Seyed Mohammad-Hossein Darouyee, the managing director of Raybod Medical Technologies company, told ANA.
He added that the product enjoys the same quality as its foreign counterparts, noting that at present, it is not 100% Iran-made and a microchip used in the device is imported from foreign states.
“Relying on the science and knowledge of the young Iranian scientists, this problem will be resolved soon and we will gain complete self-sufficiency in production of the syringe,” Darouyee said.
The term ‘angioplasty’ means using a balloon to stretch open a narrowed or blocked artery.
However, most modern angioplasty procedures also involve inserting a short wire mesh tube, called a stent, into the artery during the procedure. The stent is left in place permanently to allow blood to flow more freely.
