Iran Produces over 1 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas Daily
NIOC’s Director of Production Supervision Hormuz Ghalavand said that at present, Iran produces 1 billion and 40 million cubic meters of gas daily, of which nearly 980 mcm are delivered to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) for distribution.
He added that in addition to the country's oil production, the NIOC is in charge of the country's gas production to supply feed to the country's refineries and exports.
In recent days, by the order of the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company and with the round-the-clock efforts of the employees of the Company in the southern oil-rich regions, about 10 million cubic meters of gas from the NGL 1,000 gas plant was also added to the country's production capacity.
Iran holds 1,183 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven gas reserves as of 2017, ranking 2nd in the world and accounting for about 17% of the world's total natural gas reserves of 6,923 Tcf.
Iran has proven reserves equivalent to 161.9 times its annual consumption. This means it has about 162 years of gas left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves).
