Envoy: Iran, Armenia to Boost Trade, Scientific Cooperation
Addressing a meeting with Shahid Chamran University’s officials in Ahvaz in Southwestern Iran, Avagyan underlined the importance of scientific and academic relations between Iran and Armenia.
He added that there are a lot of positive instance in the field of increasing ties between the Iranian and Armenia universities.
The envoy stressed the age-old ties between Iran and Armenia, saying that the two sides have many capacities to cooperate in various fields.
He added that Iran and Armenia intend to increase trade volume to $3 billion annually and strengthen scientific and university cooperation.
In a relevant development in February, Iranian Minister of Science Mohammad Ali Zolfigol and his Armenian counterpart Vahram Dumanyan had also emphasized the need to develop scientific and technological cooperation.
Zolfigol expressed interest in strengthening scientific and technological cooperation with Armenia, saying that they should help each other to remain on the path of scientific growth and development.
“Iran has made good progress scientific research and technological activities in the world, in addition to being one of the top 15 countries in the world in terms of scientific production, and currently about 49 science and technology parks are active in the country,” he added.
“In the field of basic sciences, holding scientific competitions between Iranian and Armenian students in basic sciences such as mathematics can be a field of cooperation,” Solfigol stated.
