Iran Localizes Production of Gamma Irradiation Machines, Equipment
"The first multipurpose gamma irradiation machine was built in the shortest time possible by the Iranian experts. The machine will be utilized for irradiation of bulk products of grains and legumes at "Parto Farayand Site" in Bonab city.
The machine was unveiled in a ceremony and became operational in the country's first irradiation technologies town called "Parto Farayand Site" in Bonab in East Azarbaijan province.
It should be noted that the multipurpose gamma irradiation machine has been completely designed and manufactured by the Iranian scientists at the AEOI.
Similar machines were previously imported from Hungary, but the AEOI decided to localize production of them.
The AEOI is determined to mass produce the mentioned machines within the framework of a long run plan to be installed in 12 different prioritized regions nationwide.
Gamma irradiation significantly increases the life span of the products, e.g., agricultural products like potatoes and onion sprouts, when kept for long. Gamma irradiation can inhibit sprouting. Eliminate harmful microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
