Tehran Rejects Arab League Move, Warns Against Distorting Facts
In a letter to the United Nations Security Council, Iran’s Permanent Representative Amir Saeid Iravani rejected Resolution 9245, which was forwarded by Bahrain in its role as chair of the Arab League’s 165th session.
Iravani described the resolution as baseless and politically driven, arguing that it presents a one-sided narrative while ignoring what he called the underlying causes of regional tensions.
He said the document fails to acknowledge what Iran views as acts of aggression by the United States and Israel against its sovereignty and territorial integrity, actions he said violate international law and the UN Charter.
According to the letter, the resolution attempts to shift responsibility onto Iran despite its position as a target of unlawful attacks. Iravani maintained that such efforts distort both factual records and legal frameworks.
He also reaffirmed Iran’s stance on its right to self-defense under international law, including actions taken in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
The ambassador further pointed to previous communications sent by Iran to UN officials, outlining what Tehran considers the involvement of several regional countries in supporting hostile actions.
Iravani concluded that reframing events or shielding those responsible would neither alter established legal facts nor exempt them from international accountability.
