In a statement issued on Monday, Baqaei strongly condemned the recent attacks across several regions of Mali, which resulted in the deaths of the country’s Defense Minister, General Sadio Camara, members of his family, and numerous civilians, including worshippers at a mosque in Kati, near the capital, Bamako.

He extended condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with the Malian government and people, while wishing a swift recovery for those injured.

Reaffirming Iran’s longstanding position against terrorism and violent extremism in all forms, Baqaei stressed that confronting such threats is a shared global responsibility requiring close cooperation among nations.

He added that effective counterterrorism efforts must go beyond condemnation, encompassing sustained action against those responsible for planning, supporting, and financing such attacks.

Baqaei also voiced confidence that Mali would be able to overcome the threat of terrorism through national unity and collective resilience.
