IRGC Commander Cautions Against ‘False Narratives’ on Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s IRGC Aerospace Force commander, Brigadier General Majid Mousavi, has warned against what he described as “false narratives” about the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that Iran alone determines the rules governing the key waterway.
In a social media post, Mousavi paid tribute to Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, calling him a central figure in shaping Iran’s approach to the strait, including past decisions to close it in response to US and Israeli actions.
His remarks come amid renewed tensions following a temporary pause in hostilities announced by US President Donald Trump and Iran’s reopening of the strait after a Lebanon ceasefire. Trump claimed Iran had agreed not to close the strait again and said US sanctions would remain until a full agreement is reached—claims Tehran has rejected.
Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, reiterated that access to the strait is conditional, limited to designated routes and subject to Iranian authorization, warning it could be closed again if US pressure continues.
