Pakistan Calls for Diplomacy with Iran, Warns Against Foreign Interference
Speaking at a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan is closely monitoring regional developments, highlighting that the Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministers held two phone calls over the past week.
Andrabi emphasized Islamabad’s consistent support for peace and diplomacy, rejecting war, violence, and foreign sanctions targeting Iran. He warned that any unrest or conflict in the region would undermine security, prosperity, and economic growth.
The spokesperson noted that Pakistan has also engaged with U.S. officials on regional issues during recent discussions in Davos, Switzerland, stressing that all disputes should be resolved through peaceful means.
On the same day, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi by phone to express concern over the escalating regional tensions and stress the importance of diplomacy in managing the crisis. Both ministers agreed to maintain close contact in the coming days to coordinate efforts.
Tensions between Iran and the United States remain high, with President Donald Trump’s threats of military action prompting Iran to warn that any attack would be considered a full-scale act of war, triggering a strong and comprehensive response.
