Iran Says Armed Forces Ready for Worst-Case Scenarios Amid US Military Moves
According to a report by Qatar-based Al Jazeera, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations quoted a senior official as saying that Tehran is ready for worst-case scenarios, while expressing hope that recent US troop movements are not aimed at triggering an actual military clash.
The official, who was not named, stressed that any military action by the United States against Iran would be interpreted as a direct existential threat to the country.
Cautioning both the United States and the Israeli regime against what he described as military adventurism, the official said that any collapse of Iran would inevitably result in wider regional instability, a situation he claimed Israel is actively seeking.
The official also noted that Iran’s military capabilities have significantly strengthened compared to the period of the 12-day war, adding that there would no longer be any element of surprise in the event of a confrontation.
In addition, Iran’s UN mission quoted the official as saying that the possibility of reviving nuclear negotiations is among the issues currently under consideration by Tehran.
