Iranian, Iraqi Universities Sign MoU on Scientific Cooperation
During the signing ceremony, Ali Montazeri, the head of Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, said that expanding scientific interactions with friendly and neighboring countries is one of the priorities of the Center.
In line with the development of scientific, research, technological and innovation cooperation between Iran and Iraq, a memorandum of understanding was signed among the three academic centers.
During the meeting, Montazeri, in response to the readiness of the president of Al Furat Al Awsat Technical University to launch a joint science and technology park with Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, said, "The prerequisite for creating science and technology parks is the launch of growth centers, and Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research has successful experiences in this field."
“Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research is ready to develop scientific and technological cooperation with universities and scientific centers in Iraq with all its capabilities,” he added.
Also, Hassan Latef Kadhim, the head of Al Furat Al Awsat Technical University, underlined the use of experiences of Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research to build a science and technology park in Iraq.
In a relevant development in June, officials of Razi University in Iran’s Western city of Kermanshah and Al-Iraqia University in Baghdad had also in a meeting underlined the development of mutual cooperation.
“Based on the latest ranking of the Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC), Razi University has ranked 8th among 64 comprehensive universities in Iran. This database evaluates universities based on 183 performance indicators,” said Jamal Fat'hollahi, the president of Razi University.
He expressed the hope that scientific and research cooperation between the two universities would expand and these interactions would also help strengthen relations between the two nations of Iran and Iraq.
Ali Saleh Hossein, the president of Al-Iraqia University, for his part, expressed the hope that the memorandum of understanding with Razi University would be implemented quickly and joint cooperation between the two universities would expand.
“Al-Iraqia University is already ready to advance scientific and research cooperation with Razi University,” he added.
