Iran-Made Device Uses AI to Predict Traffic Accidents
“After the research and development (R&D) process, we concluded that the most important problem in the automotive industry is safety. Therefore, we decided to design a product that will maintain the safety of the driver and passengers of the car and also move the Iranian automotive industry towards more advanced vehicles,” said Ali Parsa, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
Noting that the product is an intelligent prediction and pre-accident warning device which is installed on the car, he said, “With the help of artificial intelligence technology and image processing and machine vision methods, the device predicts the occurrence of an accident a few seconds before it occurs and warns the driver to prevent the accident.”
In a relevant development in 2023, Head of the robotics and soft technologies research center of the Islamic Azad University’s Tabriz branch announced that the first self-driving car made by the Iranian specialists at the center was unveiled during Asr-e Omid event and exhibition in Karaj.
“The first self-driving car built by our research center was unveiled at Asr-e Omid exhibition by Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, the head of Islamic Azad University,” Morteza Abbaszadeh told ANA on the sidelines of Asr-e Omid event and exhibition.
“The research work of this project lasted for nearly a year and a half with cooperation of a 20-person team, consisting of students and graduates of Islamic Azad University’s Tabriz branch,” he added, noting that Tabriz Tractor Manufacturing Company cooperated in the project too.
“It is a source of pride that a robot has been designed, manufactured and commercialized entirely inside the country by using home-made equipment and is used in a large company,” Abbaszadeh said.
