China Eyes More Sci-Tech Cooperation with Iran
Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Cong Peiwu underscored the importance of deepening scientific, cultural, and technological collaboration between Bejing and Tehran.
“The exchange of professors and students, collaboration in artificial intelligence, and support for knowledge-based companies are key pillars for advancing our scientific partnership with Iranian universities,” the envoy went on to say.
During a visit to University of Mazandaran in the Northern part of Iran, the Chinese official further poined to the importance of cultural relations between the two nations, adding, “Nearly 60,000 Chinese tourists visit Iran each year.”
In a relevant development in May, a meeting was held between Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi and Cong.
During the meeting, the two sides underscored the importance of strategically developing bilateral relations.
Referring to previously signed agreements between Iran and China, Hashemi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to fulfilling these accords.
He also emphasized that both countries possess significant capacities in the field of artificial intelligence, which could serve as a foundation for joint projects.
The Chinese ambassador, for his part, praised Iran’s advancements in communications and information technology, calling for expanded cooperation despite external pressures and challenges.
Cong further highlighted the importance of collaboration in cutting-edge technologies such as AI, describing it as key to the future of Tehran-Beijing relations. He also welcomed an upcoming visit to China by the Iranian minister.
