“We have signed a contract with Isfahan University of Technology for the construction of radar; the university is building a radar for the IAC which has progressed 80% so far. We hope that it will be operational by spring and we will use it in the Iranian airports,” CEO of the IAC Hamidreza Seyedi told ANA.

“We have also negotiated with an Iranian company for supplying navigation equipment and our cooperation has started,” he added.

Seyedi referred to the talks held between the IAC and different universities to supply parts of the needed equipment and radio systems, saying that knowledge-based companies have been entrusted with manufacturing of radio consoles.

“These companies have so far produced six control tower consoles for small airports, and they have been purchased and used in medium and small-sized airports,” he added.

An airport surveillance radar (ASR) is a radar system used at airports to detect and display the presence and position of aircraft in the terminal area, the airspace around airports. It is the main air traffic control system for the airspace around airports.
