Fariba Khalili, the managing director of Farayand Danesh Hoor Company, said in this method, the technology of plant cell and tissue culture is used.

As a technique, it has significant commercial applications and makes mass production of plants with the same genetic structure possible, she added.

Khalili made the remarks on the sidelines of the Islamic Azad university’s Asreh Omid Event, which was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla.

She participated in the event with the support of the Islamic Azad University, Isfahan branch.

The company's field of activity is tissue culture. This cultivation includes two parts of ornamental plants and medicinal plants, she noted.

“In the ornamental section, we have focused on plants whose mother bases have been imported, especially different varieties of anthurium, roses, and rose bases,” she pointed out.

Of course, currently, due to the sanctions, greenhouse owners have many problems importing the flowers, Khalili highlighted.

She added that when a greenhouse owner imported ornamental plants, it was not possible to take seeds from them.

These seeds were imported from the Netherlands and the method of their propagation in the Netherlands through tissue culture is useful for mass production in a short time (in all seasons) and propagation of medicinal species.

Iran ranks fourth in the world in the production of science in the field of traditional medicine, and the remarkable achievement will improve in the coming years, Nafiseh Hosseini Yekta, the director of the health ministry’s Persian medicine office, said.

The Vice President for Science and Technology Rouhollah Dehqani said 1,800 types out of 2,500 medicinal plants are endemic to Iran.
