Iranian Experts Develop System for Detection, Self-Repair of Communication Networks
Ali Akbar Tadayyon, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, stated that the goal of launching this system is to improve the efficiency and security of Iran’s communication networks and provide better services to customers by operators.
Noting that the system is titled ‘NodeMaster’ he said that with full support for the FCAPS network management model, it meets all the needs of operators in the fields of fault management, configuration, notification and alarm, performance, and security.
Tadayyon underlined that the key capabilities of the home-made system are network topology design, equipment configuration, making changes to the network and services, continuous monitoring of network performance, efficiency optimization, support for various communication protocols, timely notification in the event of an error, event recording and management, definition of complex key performance indicators, and definition and execution of scheduled tasks with MML scripts.
In a relevant development in 2023, Iranian researchers at Shahid Beheshti University had also succeeded in designing an all-optical switch based on atomic-plasmonic resonant coupled system with application in long-range communication networks.
“What has been proposed in this research is the combination of atomic and plasmonic resonance phenomena to reduce costs and increase productivity,” said Maliheh Ranjbaran, the main researcher of the project.
“This combination creates new capabilities in the engineering of spectral properties of materials,” she added.
Noting that all-electric switches like transistors are the basis of the structure of digital circuits, Ranjbaran said, “Since in today world, long-range communications are based on optical fibers, the processes of converting optical signals into electrical signals and vice versa are essential when receiving and sending information.”
“Due to the need of this industry to highly rapid and numerous conversion processes, there is a need to use all-optical tools. All-optical devices have attracted much attention in quantum communication due to their lower cost, higher speed, and smaller dimensions,” she underlined.
