Iran’s Natural Gas Transmission Hits New Record

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iran’s natural gas transmission surpassed 876 million cubic meters in a day which is considered as a new record, a relevant official announced.

Peyman Khazrayee, the managing director of the National Iranian Gas Transmission Company, said that the previous record of 874 million cubic meters per day was surpassed due to optimized network arrangements. 

He added that a couple of days ago the gas transmission volume hit a new record of 876 million cubic meters in a day.

In a relevant development in December, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad announced that the country’s annual natural gas production has increased to 275 billion cubic meters.

Paknejad made the remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of the 26th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Tehran.

He underlined the importance of the forum as a leading international event in the global gas industry.

“This meeting is a good opportunity for exchange of views among the member and observer countries of the forum, as well as experts and specialists in the gas industry so that the bright horizons of cooperation can be shared and strengthened even more than before,” the minister said.

Paknejad added that natural gas now constitutes over 70% of Iran’s energy consumption mix.
