Iran to Save over 1.7 Billion Dollars via Constructing New Pharmaceutical Platforms

TEHRAN (ANA)- Head of healthcare and social welfare affairs of the Planning and Budget Organization said that Iran is resolved to save 1,7 billion dollars via planning eight new medicine production platforms.

Reza Awazpour, pointed to the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology's full support for domestic production of medicines and said, "Eight new platforms of medicine production have been planned with close cooperation and full support of Iran's Vice Presidency for Science and Technology which will help the country save almost $1.7bln in a five to ten years period of time."

"A memorandum of understanding will be signed soon by Head of the Planning and Budget Organization Masoud Mir-Kazemi and Iran's Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari,"

Awazpour further highlighted knowledge-based companies' unprecedented role in production of various drugs locally with very good quality and competitive price, adding, "Covid-19 kit which was previously an importing item, now is produced in Iran with about one-fifteenth of the global price."
