Official: Iran’s Home-Made Train Rails Produced Based on Int’l Standards
“Fortunately, with the activities of Esfahan Steel Company, two types of national rails have been produced which have been able to receive the international standards,” CEO of Mashhad City Train Company Kianoush Kiamarz said, addressing a meeting to sign a cooperation document with Esfahan Steel Company to produce home-made rails.
“We imported railway lines from Europe until last year and we hope not to purchase and import them from abroad from now on. Endorsement of the cooperation document will pave the way for our further cooperation with Esfahan Steel Company,” he added.
Also, Iraj Rokhsati, the CEO of Esfahan Steel Company, explained about the activities of steel companies in Iran, and said, “We rank 10th in the world in production of steel and our products are exported to 20 countries.”
World Steel Association data showed last month that Iran’s crude steel production in July rose 34.1% from a year earlier to 2 million metric tons (mt).
The figures cited in a report by the Iranian Steel Producers Association showed that Iran’s steel output in the seven months to July had reached a total of 17.4 million mt, up 3.7% from the same period last year.
That came as global steel output fell by 5.4% in January-July to reach 1,102.3 million mt, according to the same figures which indicated that largest producer China also saw its output decline by 6.4% to 609.3 million mt over the same period.
