Iranian Firm Develops IoT Technology by Long-Range Systems
“We started our research in this field 3 years ago when LoRaWAN technology was still new in our country. Although LoRa P2P technology was very little known at that time, we focused on LoRaWAN technology to create a wide WAN network with this goal in mind,” said Meysam Saqafiani, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
“The LoRaWAN network consists of three main parts: server, gateway and node, where the server is responsible for managing the network and applications. Gateways act as communication bridges between servers and nodes and connect to the internet,” he added.
Noting that different types of gateways are designed and manufactured with PoE, LTE CAT1 and WiFi network connections and can be installed in indoor or outdoor environments, Saqafiani said, “One of our outstanding products is the embedded Linux mini board called MahanPi B+, which shows the high capacities of the technologies offered by our company. Nodes also have different types and can collect different information from the environment and send it to the server. Also, these nodes are able to control certain operators and execute functional commands.”
LoRaWAN is a cloud-based medium access control (MAC) layer protocol, but acts mainly as a network layer protocol for managing communication between LPWAN gateways and end-node devices, as a routing protocol maintained by the LoRa Alliance.
