Egypt's Unemployment Rate Drops Slightly to 6.5 Percent in Q2
TEHRAN (ANA)- Egypt's unemployment rate decreased to 6.5 percent in the second quarter of 2024, down from 6.7 percent in the first quarter, the country's official statistical agency said.
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), men's unemployment rate decreased to 4.2 percent in the second quarter from 4.4 percent in the previous quarter, while unemployment rate for women rose from 16.5 percent in the first quarter to 17.3 percent in the second quarter.
The CAPMAS reported that the total labor force increased slightly to 31.42 million from 31.40 million in the previous quarter, with 13.86 million in urban areas and 17.56 million in rural areas.
Men made up 25.80 million of the workforce, while women accounted for more than 5.62 million.
