Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Produces Different Kinds of Drugs for Livestock, Poultry
"Our knowledge-based company with the aim of producing medicines used in the country's livestock and poultry industry and also exporting the medicines to the regional countries of was established in 1998. The company’s first phase of the factory was established on a land of 12,000 square meters and an infrastructure of 14,000 square meters located in the industrial city of Hashtgerd near the capital Tehran," said Farzad Zainali, the CEO of the knowledge-based company.
He furthur said that their company has seven completely separate production lines for various forms of animal medicine, adding, “Injectable solutions, types of injectable suspensions, sterile injectable powders of the beta-lactam group (penicillins and cephalosporins), different types of oral solutions and suspensions, powders soluble in water and mixed in different drug groups, including different antibiotics, insecticides, painkillers and anti-inflammatories, anti-allergy drugs and antihistamines, water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins and different kinds of minerals in the form of powder, oral solution and injection solutions, all kinds of electrolytes and injectable and oral serums are being produced in the factory.”
According to him, the company's quality control and research and development laboratories are equipped with all accurate measuring devices to detect and analyze all types of raw materials and pharmaceutical products.
He added that spectrophotometers, FTIR, GC, HPLC, polarimetry and other devices needed by pharmaceutical industry laboratories are some of the equipment and facilities there.
“The research and development laboratory of the company, based on the data obtained from the domestic markets and the countries of the region, has taken the necessary action in identifying the best, safest and most effective drugs for the livestock and poultry industry,” Zainali said.
He pointed to ‘Terramanixin’ as one of the knowledge-based products of this company and explained that this drug, which is a combination of a long-acting antibiotic and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is formulated in such a way that its long-acting antibacterial properties last for five to six days. It maintains its continuous and anti-inflammatory properties for 24 to 36 hours after a single injection of the drug, and this feature has made this drug unique in such a way that it is the first choice in the treatment of pneumonia, mastitis, metritis and inflammation of the digestive tract in the aimal.
Erfamycin is the other product of the company, according to its CEO, which is a widely-used antibiotic for the treatment and control of Pasteurelosis, pneumonia, foot rot and infectious keratoconjunctivitis in animal and enzootic abortion, acute and severe mastitis, infectious keratoconjunctivitis in sheep and fever and infection caused by tick bites in lambs.
Amoxicillin La 11% and GENTAMOX Amoxicillin and gentamicin as two other products of their company which are antibiotics.
Zainali said that amoxicillin is a β-lactam antibiotics (beta-lactam antibiotics) effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria with a bactericidal effect, and gentamicin is an aminoglycoside with a broad and rapid action and bactericidal effect, and by combining this antibiotic with amoxicillin, the penetration of gentamicin is facilitated, so with lower doses, better performance of the drug is achieved.
He said that Gentamicin + amoxicillin suspension has been produced for the first time in Iran by their company and it has no other domestic equivalent in the market.
