Iran-Made Polymer Mixtures Coat Optical Fibers, Steel Pipes for More Resistance
Knowledge-based APXLPE products are polyethylene with the ability of being networked, which are produced by the Sioplas method and used as insulation for LV cables.
The use of various grades of polyethylene with a special molecular structure along with special additives in the formulation has provided a product with high mechanical properties and commendable processability,” said Davoud Sabouri, the managing director of Abhar Polymer Mixtures Company.
He added that the product has been able to have a significant presence in the export markets in addition to the domestic market.
Noting that APPEX's knowledge-based products are mixed with silane based on heavy polyethylene (HDPE) and are used as raw materials in the production of five-layer PEX-AL-PEX pipes, Sabouri said, “PEX pipes produced with the product APPEX having features like suitable heat resistance up to 90 ℃, high resistance to environmental stress (ESCR) and scratches, suitable chemical and abrasion resistance and high creep strength up to 95 ℃ enjoy a good exports market.”
In a relevant development late last year, researchers at a knowledge-based firm in Iran’s Alborz Province had produced optical fiber joints for connecting optical fibers underground to meet the country’s domestic needs.
Hossein Jardakani, managing director of the knowledge-based company located in Payam Special Economic Zone in Alborz Province near Karaj city told reporters that the research field of this company is the design and manufacturing of passive fiber optic equipment for telecommunication uses.
“From 2008 to 2012, all the equipment made in this company used to be imported from countries like Korea, the USA and China. But later we managed to produce these products in this company,” he added.
He said that as many as 15 products are produced in their knowledge-based company, adding, “Our company has been located in Payam Special Economic Zone since 2017 and the raw materials needed for our products are purchased from Tabriz, Golpayegan and Arak petrochemical companies.”
“Optical fiber cables are 4 kilometers long and it is not possible to produce longer cables than that. Therefore, for telecommunication applications, it is vital to connect them through optical fiber joints that we produced in this company,” he went on to say.
