Official: All Agricultural Wells in Khatam County in Yazd Province Equipped with Smart Meters
Javad Mahjoubi said at a meeting of the Water Resources Protection Council in Khatam County said, “100% of agricultural wells and 84.6% of industrial wells in this County are equipped with smart meters.”
“So far, smart meters have been installed on 303 agricultural and industrial wells in Khatam County,” he added.
“More than 94% of water consumption in the mentioned county is in the agricultural sector, of which 70,320,000 cubic meters comes from agricultural wells, 3,870,000 cubic meters from springs and 9,210,000 cubic meters from Qanats (A Qanat or kārīz is a system for transporting water from an aquifer or water well to the surface, through an underground aqueduct; the system originated approximately 3,000 years ago in Iran),” the managing director of Yazd Province’s Water Administration went on to say.
