Iranian Researchers Produce New Generation of Zinc Mineral Supplements for Livestock, Poultry
According to a report by the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the knowledge-based firm that has produced the zinc mineral supplements for animals and poultry is based in the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences in Zanjan in the Western part of Iran.
The company started its operation in 2017 and it has focused its activities on manufacturing and formulating advanced chemical and nano products.
The knowledge-based company is considered as the first producer of mineral nano supplements. It has aquired the know-how of producing the new generation of supplements which is based on advanced chemical and nano technologies. This product is known as the third generation of mineral feed supplements for livestock, poultry, fish, aquatic animals and horses and different species of pets.
“The only producer of this product in the world is an American-Dutch company that has introduced this generation to the world after 15 years of research and development. And, for the first time in Iran, we have managed to produce the third generation of mineral nano supplements for livestock and poultry,” said Fatemeh Saqatchi, a Chemist in the Zanjan-based Institute who is also the Managing Director of knowledge-based company.
“The third generation of nano supplements which not only has the advantages of the previous two generations, but also it lacks their disadvantages,” she said.
“Our production capacity is one ton per month, and we have received requests from various countries, including Kuwait and Turkey for the product, but due to fact that our production capacity is limited, we have not been able to export any yet. We are in the process of meeting domestic needs,” she continued.
“The prices of our product is two-thirds of those of similar foreign equivalents, and this difference in price is one of our advantages. Moreover, because this product is produced based on the latest knowledge, it has a good potential for export both to neighboring countries and to developed countries,” Saqatchi added.
The third generation zinc mineral supplement (livestock, poultry, aquatic animals and pets) can be used in concentrate, animal medicinal supplement and additive in the industry of animal feed, poultry, aquatic animals and pets.
“Supplements increase the productivity of feed. The animal grows more optimally and gains weight in less time,” she further noted.
According to her, other advantages of this product include high availability of zinc and its non-interference with other micronutrients, high absorbability by livestock and poultry and better effectiveness, low moisture absorption potential and less risk of oxidation during storage and longer shelf life.
