Official: Iran Adds 100 Airplanes, Helicopters to Country's Fleet over Past 33 Months
Head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Mohammad Mohammadi-Bakhsh said that over the past 33 months as many as 100 airplanes and helicopters were added to the country airline fleet.
“In the year 1400 in the Iranian calendar (March 21, 2021-22), the country's aviation industry faced a lot of threats, including Covid-19 pandemic, the poor economic condition of airlines in the world and in our country, the poor condition of the airline fleet due to financial problems, the grounded airplanes, the exit of experts from the country, the intensification of oppressive sanctions and numerous cyberattacks.”
"The then administration with cooperation and support of research centers kicked off a program which entailed four sub divisions of increasing resilience, air fleet development, air fleet modernization, and indigenous aircraft construction.
He pointed to some of the other achievements of the president Raeisi’s government in the aviation industry, saying, “Improving the structural status of the aviation organization, Iran's membership in ICAO panels, signing international memorandums of understanding, increasing international flights, overhauling non-Iranian aircraft in Iran, awarding airport certificates and infrastructure standards, expanding the air fleet, preparing the plan to develop the aviation industry were some of the actions taken by the 13th government.”
“We had serious problems in supplying spare parts, but with the help of knowledge-based companies and domestic experts, more than 2,000 pieces are currently being manufactured in this chain,” said Mohammadi-Bakhsh.
“Over the past three years, despite facing a variety of sanctions and problems, safety and security in the aviation industry was observed at the highest level, adding, “Today, 28 foreign airlines have flights to our country and we have flights in the field of cargo transportation with all the five continents in the world.”
“More than 100 planes and helicopters have been added to the country's air fleet during these 33 months, of which 55 have entered the operational cycle.”
According to the head of CAO, his organization carries out the necessary supervision in coordination with Association of Iranian airlines. It also follows up on and responds to people's demands.”
