Iranian Pharmaceutical Companies Domestically Produce 71% of Drugs Raw Materials
Faramarz Ekhtraei made the remarks at the opening of the 6th Pharmex international pharmaceutical exhibition which was held on 4-7 July 2024 in Tehran.
“71% of the need for pharmaceutical raw materials of the country's pharmaceutical companies is supplied domestically, and Iranian companies have a good capacity to produce effective pharmaceutical ingredients,” the syndicate head said.
He added that Iran will be able to become a major exporter of effective medicinal substances in the next three years.
"Iran has grown powerful in the production of raw materials of medicine and domestic production prices are much lower than other countries," Ekhteraei added.
“Iran is in a favored position in terms of the production of raw materials of medicine, but we have not reached a suitable ground for exports. Considering the high capabilities of domestic producers, the best option is to move towards export. To solve this problem, we have to overcome the barriers put by sanctions through experienced solutions,” he concluded.
