Iranian Knowledge-Based Company Produces Solution to Prevent Dental Caries

“Our company has successfully obtained a knowledge-based badge for one of its products,” said Kiana Shokfteh, the managing director of an Iranian knowledge-based company said.

“This product works in the field of removing early dental caries (tooth decay) in the initial stages and can remove caries and white spots on the teeth without the need to shave the tooth and without causing damage to it. This product does not have a similar rival in Iran and there is only one foreign-made equivalent in the world,” he said.

Teeth shaving removes part of the natural enamel. Yet unlike fingernails or skin, once the tooth enamel is gone, it won't grow back. Enamel acts as a hard, protective layer around the tooth's pulp and nerves. Exposing these components can result in permanent pain until restorative dental work is done.

“The price of this product is about a quarter of its foreign equivalents,” the managing director of the knowledge-based company noted. 

“In addition to the previous product, we are currently trying to make another product knowledge-based. This product is a solution called silver fluoride, which is known as a caries protective agent worldwide. We are proud that for the first time in Iran we have succeeded in the industrial production of this product on a large scale,” added Shokfteh.

“This solution can be used as an effective preventive measure in areas where access to dental services is difficult or impossible. The use of silver fluoride can also significantly prevent tooth decay in people with high levels of tooth decay. Even in cases where tooth decay has occurred, the use of silver fluoride can prevent further progress. Introducing this product to the market is one of the biggest achievements of our company in the field of dentistry,” he further said.

She went on to say that the knowledge-based company has created jobs for 15 people directly (the personnel who work as staff members in the company) while the number of the indirect jobs it has generated cannot be counted.

She called for government support to get their products to areas where is no good dentistry facilities for people to prevent dental caries (tooth decay) and spread of oral diseases.
