Iran’s Non-Oil Trade Rises by 40% over Past 3 Years

TEHRAN (ANA)- The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) says that Iran’s non-oil trade increased by 40% over three past years leading to March 2024.

According to the IRICA statistics, Iran's non-oil trade surged from $74 billion in 2020 to $116 billion in 2023, indicating a 57% increase.

IRICA's report shows that the weight of non-oil trade reached 167 million metric tons (mts) in 2023, up from 147 million mts in 2020, indicating a 20% increase.

Moreover, the value of non-oil exports in that period showed a substantial growth from the $35 billion in 2020 to $49 billion in 2023, indicating a 40% increase.

Meanwhile, the figures showed that Iran’s total imports amounted to $66 billion last year. Of those figures, $2 billion of the imports was spend on the imports of gold bars, and $2.6 billion on imports of trucks and truck units.

Furthermore, Iran’s foreign trade with neighboring countries increased by 10% in 2023, exceeding $61 billion.

The transit of goods through Iran witnessed a significant increase, with 17.8 million mts transited in 2023, showing a 54% hike compared to the year before.
