Iranian Researcher Manufactures New Electric Valve Actuator
On the sidelines of the Asreh Omid exhibition held by the Islamic Azad University in Tehran in late May, Mustafa Esmailbeig, who designed and made an electric valve actuator device explained to ANA about how the device works.
“It controls closing and opening of oil, gas and water valves,” the researcher said.
He said that the device operates in three forms of remotely controlled, manually and locally controlled.
He said that as the country is under oppressive sanctions, domestic experts have to meet the needs.
Esmailbeig added that given the country's oil and gas vast industry, this device is really needed.
He added that the valve was designed and built in three stages by reverse engineering from one of the famous trademark and after meeting the necessary standards, the manufacturing process continued.
According to the researcher only a few countries in the world have the ability to manufacture this device according to approved standards. In the first stage, the electronic part of the device, then the required parts such as gears and mechanical and electromechanical parts, and in the last stage, the body of the device, which must be made of explosion-proof aluminum, was made, and the necessary approvals for the first two stages were received from South Zagros Oil and Gas Company.
The designer and producer of the electric valve actuator explained the features of using this device in the oil and gas industry, saying, “The most important feature of this device is its anti-explosion capability and provides safety conditions for the place of use. Obtaining an anti-explosion certificate for this device is not possible in the country, and in order to obtain a certificate, it is necessary to send at least five devices to countries such as Italy, which, considering the cost of manual production of this product and the cost of obtaining an anti-explosion certificate, attracting support for mass production is necessary and is needed.”
“If there is an investor, it is possible to mass produce it and the price of the foreign rivals of this product is about $15,000 to 25,000; But considering that this product is manufactured by hand, it has the ability to compete with foreign rivals, which, of course, in case of industrial production, the manufacturing cost will definitely be lower than this. The connection between the industry and the university is a basic necessity and there is a possibility to meet the needs of many industries in the country. This product was designed and implemented at Islamic Azad University- Bushehr branch, after the National Oil Company announced the need for it,” he added.
He further praised holding the national event Asreh Omid and considered this event as an opportunity to see all the achievements of the university.
The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
