Iranian Researchers Produce New Remedy to Treat Ingrown Toenail

Najra Salehi, the head of the research team that has produced a new herbal ointment to treat ingrown toenail said that the people with ingrown toenail have two ways to get rid of the infection, either they go under a surgery or they take medicine such as antibiotics.

The researcher, who was speaking to ANA correspondent on the sidelines of the National Age of Hope Exhibition (Asreh Omid Event) for startups held by the Islamic Azad University in Tehran, said the surgery is costly and also takes two or three weeks to treat the infection. 
She also noticed the using strong antibiotics can cause digestive problems and can have other side effects if the patients take too much of them for long time.

 “With this in mind, we developed a medicine that is herbal and is organic in nature. It follows green chemistry and no chemicals or preservatives are used in it. In developed countries such as America and the European countries in order to avoid drug interactions, topical drugs are used. Our medicine is also herbal and is made to be rubbed on the skin”, Salehi added.

Saying that investors have started negotiating with them at the exhibition, the researcher said, “The Asreh Omid Event is a very good experience and this is the first time that I am taking part in an event at such a high level.”

She went on to say that participating in the fair help them to be seen better, adding that she and her teammates at the Islamic Azad University- Ahvaz branch are working very hard.

It should be mentioned that the Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 01, 2022 to exhibit new achievements, equipments and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of establishment of the Islamic Azad University.
