Cost of Living Remains Top Concern in UK
When asked about the important issues facing the UK today, the most commonly reported issues were the cost of living (87%), the public health system, NHS (86%) and the economy (70%), showed the latest poll by the Office for National Statistics.
Looking further into the cost of living worries, about 40 percent said it was very or somewhat difficult to afford their rent or mortgage payments and around 34 percent said it was very or somewhat difficult to pay their energy bills.
Latest data showed UK inflation dropped to 3.2 percent in March, close to the 2 percent target set by the central bank and was significantly down from the peak of 11.1 percent in October 2022.
Other commonly reported concerns in the survey included climate change and the environment, housing, crime, immigration and international conflict.
