Islamic Azad University’s Student Presents Upgraded Wave Mattress to Prevent Pressure Sores
“The idea was aimed at improving the existing product ‘wave mattress’ to prevent as much and better as possible the creation of pressure sores (bedsores), which is a potential and very dangerous problem in hospitals or even at homes for absolute rest and motionless patients,” Elham Kamranian told ANA on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event in Tehran.
“Making certain changes in the product prevents the growth of anaerobic microorganisms, reduces humidity and stimulates the skin and tissue blood supply,” she added.
Pressure ulcers (also known as pressure sores or bedsores) are injuries to the skin and underlying tissue, primarily caused by prolonged pressure on the skin. They can happen to anyone, but usually affect people confined to bed or who sit in a chair or wheelchair for long periods of time.
Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 01, 2022 to exhibit new achievements, equipment and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of establishment of the Islamic Azad University.
