Iran-Made System Able to Protect Apple, Stone Fruit Trees from Frost
Esmaeil Nabizadeh, the designer of the system, told ANA that apple trees and stone fruit plantations, especially in cold regions, are threatened by frostbite.
So, we developed a system to help farmers save their products, he added.
There are 13 different climates in Iran, and one of its cold and semi-arid climates is in West Azarbaijan province, especially the Southern part of the province, which faces untimely spring frosts every year, Nabizadeh pointed out.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event.
The event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 1, 2022.
It aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.

Irrigating apple trees on cold nights may lead to frostbite, while we usually face a shortage of water, he said, adding that farmers may not be able to provide water for irrigation.
Therefore, we designed a system that automatically starts misting the plantation if the temperature drops below zero at 2 o'clock in the morning, thereby reducing or preventing frostbite.
The laboratory stage of this system has been completed and the greenhouse stage is also underway. It also measures climatic factors and has the ability to be adjusted at different times, Nabizadeh concluded.
