Iran, Russia Ink Agreement on Geological Cooperation
The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation signed 19 cooperation documents at the end of the 17th meeting of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Tehran late in February, which was chaired by Iran's Oil Minister Javad Owji and Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
One of the 19 cooperation documents inked between Iran and Russia, was a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed between Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran or GSI in short, the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation, known as IMIDRO and the Russian holding RosGeo.
The GSI, IMIDRO and RosGeo tripartite MoU was signed in the field of training in the preparation of geological maps on a scale of 150,000 in the three fields of geology, economic geology and geochemistry.
According to the public relations department of GSI’s report, before the signing of the tripartite MoU, the directors and heads of the group of three held numerous meetings and talks to review the dimensions and issues ahead to be included in the deal.
