Oil Production at Iran's Abadan Oil Refinery Increases by 100,000 bpd
“The processing capacity of the 400,000 bpd at Abadan refinery today has reached 500,000 bpd, with an increase of 100,000 bpd during the last two years since 13th government [under President Ebrahim Raeisi took office in August 2021],” Hakim Qhayem, the CEO of giant Abadan Oil Refining Company in the Southwestern part of Iran said.
Referring to the approval of the fiscal year of 1403 in the Iranian calendar (March 21-2024/2025) budget for the implementation of the development plans of the Abadan refinery in the near future, he announced the readiness of the industrial unit to become a leading refinery and reach the capacity of 630,000 bpd by the end of the 13th government in 1404 (March 21-2025-2026).
The CEO further said that Abadan Oil Refinery is seeking to become the largest refinery in the region, while noting, “This is going to take place at the least possible cost and in the shortest time possible in line with the motto ‘Yes, We Can’.”
Qhayem further highlighted that the refinery will live up to its social commitments and its expansion plans will take place with taking into account the concerns of the surrounding community, adding, “Abadan Oil Refining Company is ready to participate in the joint project of Arvand Free Zone and Tehran University, because it believes it possesses whatever it is needed including expertise, science, technology and knowhow.”
He pointed to the cooperation of Abadan Oil Refining Company with Iraq and the desire of the citizens of that country to continue their education in Iran, and considered it a necessity to lay the ground for their presence.
