Iran, Russia to Cooperate on Construction Materials, Technologies

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iran’s deputy road minister said that he had held talks with his Russian counterpart to discuss cooperation between the two nations in the field of construction materials and related technologies.

Nikita Stasishin, the Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation, visited the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the delegation of the Russian Federation. Within the framework of the 17th meeting of the Permanent Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a program of cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Russia and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran for 2024-2025 was signed.

Hadi Abasi Asl, the deputy minister for housing and construction affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development or road ministry for short said, “The meeting and talks were held in the field of housing construction, new construction materials and technologies in the Iranian ministry’s housing and building department.”

“It was decided that the research centers of the two countries should have scientific cooperation and this cooperation should be carried out in the field of construction materials, technologies, and also the presence of Iranian companies to build housing in Russia,” the Iranian deputy road minister added.

Explaining how the Iranian private sector participates in the construction of housing in Russia, Abasi Asl said, “In accordance with the agreements reached, Iranian private sectors will have an active presence in the field of construction materials in Russia, and in the construction sector, Iranian companies are waiting to receive the country's proposals from Russia.”

He also talked about the continuation of the series of meetings with his Russian counterpart, adding, “The Russian counterpart invited us to hold a joint meeting in the next six months in that country to achieve the goals.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Construction of Russia, in a press release on 29 February 2024, said that ​the program discussed with the Iranian road ministry defines the priority areas of sectoral cooperation, including in housing construction, housing and communal services, and in the field of education and training for the construction industry.

"We have serious potential for expanding sectoral cooperation, which, I am sure, will be realized," said Nikita Stasishin.

“The formation of a comfortable urban environment is one of the topics that interests the Iranian side. Last year, face-to-face talks were held in Moscow at the site of the International Exhibition on the Development of Parks and Public Spaces, where practical aspects of cooperation in the field of landscaping and the development of a comfortable urban environment were discussed," Stasishin went on to say.
