“Pharmed Ario Zist Baft company was established in the Health Technology Growth Center of Islamic Azad University’s Shahr-e Kord branch by presenting the idea of producing raw materials for tissue engineering, and it received necessary licenses after completing the technical know-how in the field of producing raw materials for tissue engineering with very high purity (including hydroxyapatite powder in nano and micro scales, calcium derivatives, silk fibroin and sericin, all kinds of culture media and biological and chemical buffers),” Ali Aqababayee, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event in Tehran.

He added that given the importance of tissue engineering in medical sciences and regenerative medicine, indigenization of raw materials in this field, in addition to reduction of their import, can increase exports in the country and significantly helps researchers in reducing research costs.

“Fortunately, the company has taken strong steps in this direction and has produced high quality and pure products that have various applications in different industries, including pharmaceutical, cosmetics, environment and food industries,” Aqababayee said.

Tissue engineering is a branch of regenerative medicine, itself a branch of biomedical engineering. Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are concerned with the replacement or regeneration of cells, tissues (the focus of tissue engineers) or organs to restore normal biological function.

Asreh Omid Event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 1, 2022.

It aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.

Some 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research centers, and startups took part in Asreh Omid Event.
