Armenian Official: Tehran,Yerevan Able to Increase Trade Volume to 3 Billion US Dollars Annually
Mher Grigoryan, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, made the remarks in the 18th meeting of the Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Commission which was held in Tehran.
The two countries’ joint economic commission lays a good ground to help realize the target annual $3 billion trade, he also said.
“In the past years, good plans were implemented, which are of strategic importance for Armenia," the official went on to say.
“The gas-for-electricity contract, the road construction project in Armenia carried by Iranian engineers, and the third electricity transmission line being worked on by Iran in Armenia are on the agenda, the completion of which is important to us,” the Armenian deputy prime minister added.
The head of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Armenia considered security and stability to be the most important prerequisites for economic relations, adding, “The view of the Republic of Armenia is to create durable stability and security with the prospect of economic development in the region. For this reason, we presented the Crossroad of Peace Brochure, in which all transportation axes should be opened and countries should respect each other's principle of sovereignty.”
